Roll up, Roll up. It’s here. The First Annual World Circus and Cabaret Festival (WCCF) is taking place nestled among the picturesque hills of Daylesford.

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes of the Live Love Life Festival, the Daylesford and Macedon Tourism have got right behind this little festival that could and oh my, do we have a program that is set to wow you. In the words of Australia’s very own bard ‘from little things big things grow.’ And that’s exactly what we intend to do.

To kick things off this year we have two stunning venues. Hepburn Spring’s iconic Palais which will re-open its doors on this very weekend for this very festival. The Palais has an overflowing program celebrating all things cabaret. From side show to burlesque and everything in-between. The venue has received more then a face lift with Richard Fanale at the helm. Richard has worked day and night for months to breath new life into the old girl that has to be seen to be believed.

The circus is coming to town with the first Big Top to appear in Daylesford in modern memory. Locals Sam Hryckow and Melody Webb recently bought a big top and the WCCF will be the venue’s christening. ’The May Wirth’ a Grand Dame of a tent, intimate in size but enormous in heart will play host to some of the hottest circus acts going around. The tent is named after Australia’s very own super star of the ring, May Wirth, who toured with Barnum and Bailey as a headline act and was the first person ever to perform both front and back somersaults on horse back.

The Syndicate Sideshow
As part of the World Circus and Cabaret Festival, The Syndicate Sideshow bring their renowned brand of political satire, incredible stunts and dark sarcasm to The Palais for one night of pure awesome! Watch in awe as these punk rock daredevils go bigger, better and weirder than ever – challenging the boundaries of decency and common sense with spectacular sideshow stunts, electrifying burlesque, incredible escapes and whip-sharp political satire. More motivational than a workplace poster! As sincere as a politicians apology! Happier than a nihilistic mining tycoon! Brimming with ideas, wit and anarchistic energy this carnival cult-hit promises to have you roaring with laughter as we push your boundaries, tantalize your senses and subvert your expectations!

Mullets and Memoirs
Memoirs and Mullets is an original and unique Australian love story, weaving its tale with roller skating, comedy, live music, circus and dance.Frankie and Shazza meet way back in the 50’s and we follow their love affair through the decades. Accompanied by the iconic tunes of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, this show is sure to have you tapping your feet and singing along. The show appeals to audiences as young as 6 all the way through to their Grandparents.

Line up at the May Wirth Circus Tent

Retox
“Everything in moderation, including moderation” (Oscar Wilde)
Retox is a testament to excess. Leave your liver cleanse at the door; things are about to get debaucherous!
Packed to the rafters with award-winning international circus artists from Cirque du Soleil and Melbourne Theatre Company, this circus cabaret will leave you ravenous for more.

Coriander
After a sell out season and rave reviews at the Adelaide Fringe, Coriander (or Randi for short) is set to spice up your life one poorly executed downward dog at a time. Jess O’Brien cleverly satirizes naval gazing and pseudo spirituality that all too often creep into the wellness industry. The audience will take home some true yogic wisdom, including, “the most important thing about yoga is tell people you’ve done yoga” and some hot tips on how to do your very best Instagram handstand. What better recipe for wellness than laughter after all it is the best medicine.

Pitts Family Circus
Be entranced by spectacular acrobatics! Sword swallowing children! Baby balancing! Human Pyramids and more…
With humble beginnings 15 years ago as a duo act doing a small street theatre show The Pitts have now toured the world seven times and grown into a charming family circus – they now have three young children – that is popular with crowds wherever they appear.

Sprung Circus – Culture Flip
Celebrating the diverse strength of girls. Pushing back at culture that blocks equal opportunity.
